Uniform

The uniform has been devised in response to numerous requests by parents. It solves the problem of “What shall I wear today?” It ensures the children are always dressed sensibly. It is a unifying factor. We believe it also helps towards creating a good ‘tone’.

The Governors expect the co-operation of parents in ensuring that the policy on uniform is adhered to.

Chartham Primary School uniform is as follows: 

• Grey shorts or school type trousers

• Grey school skirt, grey pinafore dress.

• Pale blue polo shirt with Chartham logo*

• Navy blue sweatshirt with the school logo*

• Navy blue sweatshirt cardigan with the school logo*

• Plain grey /black/ white knee or ankle socks

• Plain grey /black tights

• Socks must not be worn over tights.

• Blue gingham dresses

• School/book bags must be of a suitable size to be placed in your child’s locker

• Plain black shoes with a low heel and black sole.

• Plain black smart trainers

• Outdoor shoes – wellington boots preferred

PE Kit

Indoor PE

• Navy blue or black shorts (plain)

• White round necked t-shirt with the Chartham logo*

• Black plimsolls

Outdoor PE

• Navy blue or black jogging trousers (plain)

• White round necked tee shirt with Chartham logo*

• Trainers

For personal hygiene and safety, all children change for Indoor PE and wear plimsolls. For health and safety reasons, earrings may not be worn for any PE activity.

In Addition

Suitable outdoor PE kit for winter (in addition to t-shirts and shorts) could include track suits, jogging bottoms or sweatshirts. 

Forest School Kit

• Suitable outdoor clothing and shoes dependent on the weather

• Wellington boots and waterproofs are recommended for wet weather

It is essential to mark all items of uniform with your child’s name.

REMINDER

• No jewelry is allowed except for a watch (not smart watches).

• If ears have been pierced plain stud ear rings (one per ear) may be worn but must be removed for PE or covered with a piece of tape.

• No nail varnish/false nails are allowed.

• No make-up is allowed.

If parents have difficulty with ordering uniform online, please contact the school office. Most of the uniform can also be purchased in supermarkets.

We would also like to encourage your child to bring a book bag to school for their reading books and the scrap books which are used for communication between home and school. These can also be purchased from Price and Buckland.
