Our social action plan focuses on three areas:
Biodiversity, Litter, and Waste
Throughout the school year we take part in activities covering these three areas.
Our Eco Warriors chose a space to develop in order to attract a larger variety of Wildlife to Chartham, and to provide a safe space for current Wildlife.
Projects are carried out by the Eco Committee, The Garden Gang, The Create Club, and children choosing to help out during their Forest School Sessions.
We are developing a pond, a garden, and safety for local wildlife.
In Term 1 the children helped to make a new pond
In Term 2 we built up the sides of the pond to make it to accommodate a greater biodiversity of of insect and pondlife
In Term 3 we added in feeding stations and nesting opportunities for birdlife
In Term 4 we're developing spaces for mice and hedgehogs
Term 1 - making a pond out of recycled materials
Term 2 - Frozen pond over winter
Term 3 - Wildlife stack, bird table with bug hotel space below
Term 4 - Diving beetles, water snails, and a common lizard in/by the pond

Our Eco Warriors are continually carrying out litter surveys and looking at the places it accumulates as well as exploring some solutions for the quantity of litter founf on school grounds.
Litter is an ongoing problem around school. We are a large site, and windy weather always blows in more rubbish! Recently we have had an old fence replaced and this has led to discovering piles of litter from long ago!
In Term 1 The Eco Committee went on walk to see where the Litter was prevalent
In Term 2 A survey was completed which included looking at what the most common kind of litter is
In Term 3 We increased the quantity of outdoor litter bins and looked at how long litter lasts
In Term 4 We continue to litter pick regularly and have created some posters to help disuade people from dropping litter
Term 1 - we were all shocked at how quickly we filled a carrier bag
Term 2 - we identified where there were micro plastic rubbish as well as litter
Term 3 - we found litter from 1985 trapped in bushes
Term 4 - some of our posters ready to go up
